Supporting The Womens Cottage
The community can support The Women’s Cottage in a number of ways:
- Women can become a member of the cottage (see Become a member).
- Women can apply to join our Governance body HAWKS Management Collective.
- Community members can attend events.
- Be part of our say No to Violence campaign (see the Projects section on our website).
- Support the Gabrielle Fund or Emergency Relief.
- Sponsor a counsellor for a day for / 6 months /12 months.
- Sponsor a group.

About Your Donations, Where & How They are used
General donations will be applied to the general running of the service.
If preferred you can nominate where your donation would like to go. See options to the right or see pages 68-69 of our annual report.
Emergency relief for clients in need of food hampers etc.
Gabriella Fund – specifically for women escaping domestic violence
In 1991, Gabrielle, a woman supported by The Women’s Cottage, was murdered by her husband.
A donation from a Soroptimist group began the “Gabrielle Fund”.
This money was to be used to assist local women in emergency situations who were escaping violent partners.
Today, the Gabrielle Fund still provides funds for accommodation, taxi fares or whatever a woman needs for herself or her children at a time when she fears for her safety at the hands of her partner.
