Specialist Domestic Violence Centre-Based Services

All services and activities at The Women’s Cottage are based on the principles of acceptance, empowerment, and resilience. Drop-in / phone-in support Services are offered by our Women’s Advocacy Violence Emergency (W.A.V.E.) Support Workers.

No appointment is needed for the drop-in service during our open hours however it can be helpful and reduce waiting times to call ahead of time to discuss your needs.

The Women’s Cottage offers specialist, experienced and skilled support for women who have experienced violence and abuse or other issues causing distress, including support for women who have experienced or currently experiencing:

struggling with abuse or fear in my current relationship - Physical, Emotional, sexual, psychological & Financial abuse

We offer confidential support from trained workers who can help you decide for yourself what you want to do next and what services and support are available to you.

HAVE HAD PAST EXPERIENCE OF SEXUAL ASSAULT OR SEXUAL ABUSE AS A CHILD / young person

You will be heard, believed, respected and offered support for healing.

Struggling with parenting

We understand that parenting is not always easy – we will work with you to get you the support that you need.

feeling alone or isolated

We offer groups and activities where you can join in, feel welcomed and belong.

PAST EXPERIENCE OF AN ABUSIVE OR VIOLENT RELATIONSHIP IN THE PAST

You are not alone. More than 40% of all the women we support have experienced some form of domestic violence and abuse from an intimate partner. We can offer you confidential support to get safe and deal with the ongoing effects of domestic violence.

Currently going through difficult life issues & circumstances

Having a place to feel safe and be listened to can offer positive change and support. We can offer a space for you to explore your feelings and needs.

struggling with financial distress or crisis

We can offer material aide, food hampers and emergency relief. Please give us a call to find out what is available.
